Dingxiang County, Xinzhou City is a nationally renowned forging hometown, and its flange manufacturing is unique. In 2020, the global economy was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Dingxiang flange industry, which has always been export-oriented, how did it develop in 2020? In recent years, Dingxiang County has set the goal of building a "World Forging Capital of Flanges," expanding its scale and creating brands, with enterprise clusters shifting from "physical addition" to "chemical integration." To date, the county has 57 enterprises that have "grown from small to large," 12 enterprises that have "transformed from regulated to stock," 23 provincial "specialized and new" enterprises, 6 "specialized and new" small giant enterprises, 8 "two-integration" enterprises, 12 high-tech enterprises, 8 provincial-level technology centers, and 41 enterprises that have undergone shareholding system reforms; 6 enterprises have obtained military product certifications. Six national-level brands have been established, including the China Export Flange Forging Product Quality and Technology Promotion Committee, and four provincial-level brands, including the High-end Flange Forging Forming Equipment Technology Research Institute. Flange forging industry output has increased by an average of 12.2% annually for five consecutive years, and output value has increased by an average of 13.8% annually for five consecutive years.
Today, with fierce competition across the country, Dingxiang must advance or retreat; slow progress is also retreat; lack of innovation means retreat.
Wang Jianfeng, Secretary of the Dingxiang County Committee, stated at the recently concluded Dingxiang County Economic Work Conference that six innovations—in concepts, models, products, elements, technology, and openness—are needed to help enterprises and entrepreneurs take the lead in development.
Specifically, this involves transforming development concepts, establishing a chain-thinking approach, supporting and guiding enterprises to continuously improve and perfect their machining equipment technology, and accelerating the construction of an integrated "mining-selection-smelting-forging" industrial chain; expanding model innovation, carrying out chain strengthening, chain supplementation, and chain smoothing, and accelerating the cultivation of five major industrial clusters: new energy, special metal materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, intelligent manufacturing equipment, and rail transit components; accelerating the cultivation of a group of "leading enterprises" and "chain-leading enterprises," seizing the opportunity of offshore wind power development, promoting the transformation of onshore wind power flanges to offshore wind power flanges, and using about three years to cultivate 3 enterprises with sales revenue exceeding 1 billion yuan, 6 enterprises with sales revenue exceeding 500 million yuan, and 10 enterprises with sales revenue exceeding 300 million yuan; focusing on product innovation, actively promoting the construction of a research and development system for wind power equipment manufacturing, guiding enterprises to develop forged products such as wind turbine shafts, large gear rings and bearing rings, autoclaves, and turbine components, and independently developing leading products and improving key products; strengthening talent support, playing the role of a pilot county for the capital market, and making good use of the 10 million yuan special fund for the development of the flange forging industry; accelerating technological innovation. By the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan," achieving full coverage of technology centers for above-scale enterprises and promoting in-depth integration of "government, industry, academia, research, and application"; deepening open innovation, accelerating the creation of a national-level foreign trade transformation demonstration base, improving the open capacity of the manufacturing industry under the "dual circulation" pattern, actively joining cross-border e-commerce platforms, exploring overseas markets, continuously promoting the construction of international cooperation parks and "overseas warehouses," and proactively planning and promoting the construction of a "European warehouse" and so on.
